SUBJECT: 🦁 LCE Lion Times - Week of 10/1/22

Weekly Newsletter - October 1, 2022
President's Message

Dear LCE Families,

Great to see so many of our LCE families at Friday’s LCHS football game where the Spartans beat San Marino! The Spartans weren’t the only winners of the night, as LCE brought home the trophy for highest participation across the 3 elementary schools. Go Lions!

October is officially here, and so is our next Dine Out!  Tuesday, our Dine Out Fundraiser is at New Moon from 11:30am-9:00pm. Bring in our flyer (click on the flyer below to open and print), and they will donate 15% of the proceeds from your order to LCE.  Thank you in advance for your support!

These are the final days for Pumpkin Patch Preorders for pick up at the patch on October 14th from 2-5pm. Order form closes this Wednesday the 5th.

Speaking of October fundraisers, we are deep into the planning for Halloween Haunt. Did you know that there are over 20 Halloween Haunt sub-committees with a total of close to 100 volunteers helping to make our biggest fundraiser successful? From committees on décor, silent auction, games, prizes, food, set-up and more …. it has been truly amazing to watch so many people come together for our children and our school. Please make plans to come out with family and friends to enjoy the day with us on Saturday October 29th from 10am-4pm. Enjoy the fun and food, and check out the Silent Auction!

Speaking of Hauntfest, just a reminder that our Online Form for the Halloween Haunt is open!  Don’t forget to visit and pre-order any remaining items you still need for our much-anticipated event!  Whether it is pre-ordered lunch options, wristbands and tickets, or sponsorship and donations, you can take care of it all in one place.  We are so excited to show you everything we’ve been planning for this year’s Haunt!  It is not too late to become a sponsor, donate to the silent auction, or volunteer for set-up and clean-up.  For more information, or to volunteer to help with any part of the event, please contact haunt@lcepta.org.

I love Halloween season, and am looking forward to sharing in these special events with all of you!

Warmly,

LAST CHANCE for Pumpkin Patch Orders
Pumpkin Order Form

Last chance for Pumpkin Patch orders! Order form closes this Wednesday the 5th.

The Annual LCE Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser will take place on Friday, October 14th from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. Many thanks to our generous Pumpkin Patch sponsor, Gillan Abercrombie Frame of Compass Real Estate.

Our online pumpkin order form is now live! Please order your pumpkins early and pick them up at LCE during the event, which will feature games, music, treats, and more. Fun for the whole family! The deadline to order pumpkins online is Wednesday, October 5th. We will have limited pumpkins available for purchase the day of the event.

There are many ways to get involved in the Pumpkin Patch fundraiser beforehand as well.

  • Donate gift cards or gift certificates for a mystery prize bag. Own a business? Have a gift card lying around that you won’t use? Donate to the PTA for inclusion in a mystery prize bag at the Pumpkin Patch. Email pumpkinpatch@lcepta.org and we’ll arrange a pick-up.

  • Bring us your gently used costumes. Clean out your closets and donate your used costumes (any size or stage, infant to adult) and accessories (hats, shoes, wigs, masks, etc). Drop off in the bin outside the front office through October 7th

  • Sign-up to volunteer before or during the event. We have a great group of volunteers this year but can still use help. Volunteer opportunities include making decorations, stuffing mystery prize bags, setting-up, and staffing the event.   Email pumpkinpatch@lcepta.org and we’ll add you to our list!

Hauntfest Sponsorship Available Now
Still Time to Sponsor Hauntfest

Supporting the Halloween Haunt means that the LCE PTA can improve our campus in ways that benefit all of our students. A few years ago, these contributions funded the much-needed LCE library remodel. Your sponsorship also allows us to continue the outstanding enrichment programs that our children deserve. Your family or business financial sponsorship to LCE’s largest fundraiser ultimately bolsters your own child’s learning.

Your generosity comes with perks to thank you for your support:

* All sponsors will receive recognition by sponsorship level in the LCE Lion Times e-newsletter.

* All sponsors will have their names posted at the Halloween Haunt.

* All sponsors will receive bonus tickets to be used during the Halloween Haunt towards food, treats, and Spooky Sales items, including Confetti Eggs!

* Some sponsorship levels receive one or more wristbands to be used during the Halloween Haunt. Each wristband includes unlimited play at game booths, and one included meal.

Confetti Eggs for Halloween Haunt
We really need your eggshells!

Confetti Eggs are a Haunt favorite. But to bring them back this year, we need your help now!

After removing the contents of your eggs, please rinse and drop off your cartons of eggshells to the LCE office.

Our Confetti Eggs Chairperson will pick them up and make sure they're filled with confetti made of shredded, recycled paper from the teacher workroom.

Need an egg cracker tool? We have those too, available in the front office!

Questions? Contact haunt@lcepta.org

How to use the tool:
  1. Place the tool on the top of the egg.
  2. Lift the weighted cracker and release.
  3. Remove the scored round.
  4. Drain the contents, rinse out the eggshell, and let it dry.
Looking for Costumes
We need more donations!

This year we will again be selling gently used costumes and accessories in our Pumpkin Patch Costume Shoppe! Please donate any costumes and accessories in the bin outside the front office until October 7th. Thank you in advance for your support!

Drop off Book Donations
Taking donations now

This year at LCE's Halloween Haunt, along with confetti eggs, treats, food, and prizes, we will also be selling used books!

If you have old books to donate, please bring them to the front office and place in the donation box.

The event will be held at the La Cañada High School auditorium on Monday, October 3rd at 7:00 p.m. All interested members of the public are invited to attend. In addition to hearing prepared statements from the candidates, attendees will have the opportunity to submit written questions.

As a non-partisan organization, the La Cañada Council PTA neither supports nor opposes candidates for public office. It does, however, aim to help disseminate as much factual, objective information as possible during election campaigns so that voters may make more informed choices on issues that affect our community's children and youth.
