As we settle into the school year, one of my favorite things about LCE is seeing all the different ways our students and families can learn, participate, connect, and try something new.

This special edition of Lion Time is all about the programs and opportunities at LCE this fall. Some happen right after school, some are PTA-supported, and others are opportunities for students and families to get involved throughout the year.

We know how quickly information can pile up at the beginning of the school year, so our goal is simple: put it all in one place and make it easier for you to find what works for your family.

Our Back-to-School Order Form closes this Friday! Before we officially wrap up our Back-to-School season:

• 👕 Lion Wear: Our first order of the year is closing, so get those LCE spirit wear orders in!
• 📘 Yearbook: This is your last chance to take advantage of Back-to-School pricing.
• 🍨 PTA Membership: You can join anytime, but we’ll be wrapping up our Membership Drive and announcing the winning grade for the Ice Cream Sundae Party! 5th grade is still in the lead! We will announce the winning grade after Labor Day.
• 💛 Annual Donation Drive:  Annual Donation Drive: We’re currently at $28,550—just $1,450 shy of our $30,000 goal! You can donate anytime throughout the year, but our official Annual Donation Drive wraps up Friday. Let’s see if we can close that final gap!

There’s a lot happening at LCE this fall! Here’s a look ahead at some of the PTA Sponsored programs, events, and special weeks coming to our campus:

September–October 23 | PTA Reflections Art Contest 🎨
 Reflections launches this September! This National PTA arts program gives every LCE student an opportunity to explore their creativity and express themselves through dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, or visual arts. Students can begin working on their entries in September, with all submissions due October 23. This year’s theme is “What my culture means to me.”

September 14–18 | Healthy Habits Week
In recognition of National PTA’s Healthy Lifestyles initiative, we’ll spend the week encouraging healthy habits and choices for our students. More information on this year's LCE activities is coming soon.

September 19 | Dodgers Family Night ⚾

We can't see you at the LCE friends and families Night  at Dodger Stadium for a fun night out with our LCE community! Please indicate your friend/seating request here. We’ll do our best to honor requests and seat families together, especially if you haven’t already included your request on the order form.

October 2 | Learning Without Limits Fair
One of LCE PTA’s two signature fairs, Learning Without Limits celebrates the many different ways our students learn, think, communicate, and experience the world. Through engaging, age-appropriate activities, students will explore neurodiversity, learning differences, inclusion, and empathy. Interested in getting involved?

October 15 | The Great California ShakeOut
LCE joins millions of participants worldwide in the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill every October. 

Want to help with emergency preparedness? We are looking for parent volunteers to help throughout the year and with the annual Great ShakeOut earthquake drill on Thursday, October 15th, at 10:15 AM. If you'd like to get involved or help with LCE's Emergency Preparedness, please email volunteers@lcepta.org.

October 23 | Reflections Entries Due 🎨
Last day for students to submit their Reflections entries!

October 26–30 | Red Ribbon Week

We’ll wrap up October with Red Ribbon Week and activities focused on helping students make healthy, safe, and positive choices. Red Ribbon Week is the nation's largest and longest-running drug-use prevention campaign. During LCE's celebration, students take the pledge to live a safe and healthy lifestyle. This year's theme: "Make A Difference. Be a Hero." Every choice we make fits into the bigger picture — just like a puzzle coming together. Living drug-free helps build a stronger, brighter future, one piece at a time.

November 6 | Veteran’s Day Assembly 

Each year, LCE proudly honors the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces through our annual Veterans Day Assembly.

This meaningful school-wide event recognizes veterans from our LCE community — including parents, grandparents, relatives, alumni, and friends. Students celebrate their service through music, presentations, and expressions of gratitude while learning about the importance of service, sacrifice, and patriotism.

LCE families are invited to nominate veterans to be recognized during the assembly; registration details are shared each fall. Interested in volunteering? Contact Veterans Day Assembly Chair Bryan Vandenberg at veteransday@lcepta.org
